TODAY’S CHATTER – EGO IS NOT YOUR FRIEND….. or is she?

What is ego chit-chat? Well beautiful soul it is that voice that pops into your head warning you not to do things. It is the thought that is backed by fear. The decision feels uneasy in a bad way. Whispering “oh no we can’t do that”. Or “If you do this you will fail”. Bla bla bloody blaaa….. In some ways our ego chat can be good. It can use our fear to stop us from doing something very stupid. The chat that will pop up when you do need a little warning. BUT most of the time she is your inner fear trying to keep you stuck in the negative spot your in as it is safe there. it has taken me many years to work out who she is. Learning to recognize when she rears her ugly head and starts filling my beautiful head with nonsense. Keeping me stuck in my fear-based thoughts. Well, let’s be honest the alternative is not only petrifying but it is hard!! And as humans, we tend to be lazy and always stick with what’s EASY. What we KNOW. But that is not growth & that will not help us move into our kick-ass best versions of ourselves!
Why can your ego be so detrimental? Ok, let’s go there. Does anyone else hear voices? “your not good enough” “Your such an idiot”. “You definitely are too fat for that”. “Why did you say that”? If you don’t hear them…… we can’t be friends! Ha, only kidding but really, every one of us has that voice internally that is so mean. It holds us back from making decisions that could literally change our worlds for the better. So by listening to our mean girl chat away up there, while we sit and over drink, eat the kids cookies, feel too fat to put our sports gear on, beat ourselves up SHE WINS GUYS!!!! She literally is rubbing her hands together while she watches you down spiral to a bigger pit of depression & anxiety-ridden routines. So……
IF IT’S COMPLICATED IT’S FROM EGO. IF IT’S SIMPLE IT’S FROM YOUR HIGHER SELF – The M Rooms
How can we tame her???? We name that bitch! Excuse my language but I think she kind of is some days. So my Ego is called Carol. She is a pain in my behind. The reason naming my ego has worked is because you can start to recognise her when she appears. You can have the conversation with her. PISS OFF CAROL. So my homework for you is to do 2 things. Name your ego. And then name your higher self. You know the one who talks sense. The one who comes from a place of love. The one who wants only the best for you. When she speaks you feel like the words or decisions are felt warmly in your body. Your recognise the feeling of calm when she is chatting to you. However do not be fooled. She will push you & make you step away from your comfort zones! My higher self is called Daisy. And I love her.
Imagine you have to make a big decision & you are really torn. Close your eyes and imagine your chatting to them both. Ask each one what they would do. There will always be an answer that is scary but feels exciting. There will always be an answer that will feel sticky but safe. If you feel fear around it, lean into it. Is it because your in danger or just being pushed outside of your comfort zone? If you are in danger then HELL NO… but if you may step away from safe and experience something magical then Daisy has just stepped in!!! Try it. It takes practice but as you all know the more your practice…………..!!!
